Lindley: From recruitee to recruiter
San Diego State commitment Ryan Lindley recently received a bump up in the Rivals.com rankings. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound gunslinger from Lakeside (Calif.) El Capitan is now ranking among the nation's top 35 pro-style quarterbacks from the Class of 2007.
The move up the rankings was well deserved. Lindley led El Capitan to an undefeated regular season and North League Championship. In 10 games, he completed over 60 percent of his passes for 2,823 yards and 28 touchdowns with just seven picks.
Lindley will face off against Cathedral and fellow SDSU commitment Vince Camarda in the CIF quarterfinals next Friday. "We had a bye [in the first round] so we got some injuries healed up and everyone is rested so we are pretty fired up to get the playoffs started up," Lindley expressed.
Lindley gave the Aztecs an oral commitment back on November 7th. It was an unofficial visit to San Diego State the previous weekend that sold him staying close to home for college.
"I really liked the environment and staying here at home was a major incentive," Lindley expressed. "At first, at the beginning of the recruiting process, I was actually leaning towards getting out of town for college to experience something new. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized the perks of staying close to home. I'm happy to be a future Aztec.
"I chose to commit early because I want to help them draw some more kids to go to [San Diego] State. They have been getting a lot of commitments recently. I'm not saying that's necessarily because of me but I think other kids see too that Coach Long, Coach Miller and the rest of the coaches know what they are doing and it's going to be a program to watch out for in the future."
Lindley plans to take his official visit to SDSU the weekend of December 8th. "I'm definitely planning on being an extra recruiter for Coach Long and Coach Miller once my seasons over," he added.
