D-line looks to satisfy a need for speed

It has been nearly six years since the Oregon State football team generated a consistent pass rush. Coincidently, OSU finished 11-1 and thrashed Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl to finish No. 4 nationally that season, thanks in part to a defensive line that gave opposing offenses nightmares.


Anchoring that unit were defensive ends DeLawrence Grant and LaDarius Jackson. The NFL-bound seniors used their tremendous speed to wreck havoc in the backfield. As a result, the entire Beaver defense thrived that season. The linebackers were able to cover the run or drop back in coverage. This allowed the secondary to excel while playing man coverage.
