After a busy June and July capped off with a verbal commitment to Iowa State, Grant Garner just wanted to get away for a while. And who could blame him? The offensive lineman from Mesquite (Tex.) North Mesquite saw his recruiting stock take off this summer and in the end, he chose ISU over 10 other offers. What position will be play for ISU and what made it the place for him?

Before escaping on a beach getaway with friends and turning off the cell phone for a few days, the 6-foot-3, 260-pound Garner made an unofficial visit to Iowa State last week and it solidified for him that of all the opportunities available to him, it was the best option.
